“Other than the wonderful selection of meats and cheese, plus the many other interesting foodstuffs and accessories, visitors to Saucisse Deli will immediately notice the rustic framed picture wall as they enter the shop. These are not just random photos for decoration, but are in fact a story of my daughter, Amanda’s achievements and travels and that of her family before her!  Photos of her great-great grandfather’s businesses in Oudtshoorn, her great uncle’s department store in George, my menswear stores in Cape Town, and Amanda’s mother’s hairdressing salon in Sea Point, make it obvious that retail is in our genes! To up-country visitors this picture wall has become a great talking point especially considering that some of the photos date back to 1884!  As the “family historian”, it’s been my pleasure to regale those who are interested, in hearing some of the old family anecdotes! Of course I am sometimes reprimanded for holding up the queue at the till!  I suppose that is what happens when a daughter gets her elderly father to assist her in the business!”

Since Amanda opened her deli four years ago, The Old Biscuit Mill has become one of the top must- do sites to visit, which has resulted in Saucisse Deli receiving visitors and celebrities from all over the word!  Some members of the cast of “Homeland” have enjoyed meals at Saucisse, much to the delight of our staff and customers. I can recall that over the years we have had Orlando Bloom, Hilary Swank, Jonathan Rhys-Myers, Clair Danes and Mandy Patinkin visiting Saucisse! In fact every day at Saucisse, is exciting and different, from our loyal regular clientele to the interesting tourists passing through our doors, all totally blown away by what Cape Town has to offer!

Will keep you all updated, just watch this space!
